Cheryl Regehr elected to Fellowship of Academy of Social Sciences
Cheryl Regehr, the University of Toronto’s vice-president and provost and a professor in the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, has been elected to the Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences.
Based in the United Kingdom, the Academy of Social Sciences comprises over 1,500 leading social scientists selected through an independent peer review that recognizes their excellence and contributions to social sciences research that tackles pressing issues facing society.
Regehr was one of 47 social scientists to be elected to the fellowship this fall, and the only scholar from a Canadian institution.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome these 47 leading social scientists to the Academy’s Fellowship,” said Will Hutton, president of the Academy of Social Sciences, in a press release. “Throughout their careers so far, they have furthered our understanding, and made practical contributions, in a range of areas… I look forward to meeting and working with them to further promote the importance of the social sciences.”
