Kristin Cleverley receives Scholarship into Practice Award
Assistant Professor Kristin Cleverley of the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing is the 2021 recipient of the Council of Ontario University Programs in Nursing’s Scholarship into Practice Award, in recognition of the impact of her research on improving youth mental health.
Cleverley, who is also the CAMH Chair in Mental Health Nursing Research, collaborates with hospital and community partners to better understand barriers to access and continuity of care when it comes to youth mental health.
“It’s an iterative process where I’m listening, co-designing, and collaborating,” says Cleverley. “For me, it’s about building relationships with health-care partners and youth in exploring ways to evaluate and scale up interventions that improve continuity of mental health care.
“When I think about how I implement my research into practice, my ‘aha’ moments come from working with youth and their caregivers. They have the insight needed in the creation of realistic and practical tools to implement change.”
