PhD student Enrico Quilico recognized with 2018 Change-Maker Award
Enrico Quilico, a PhD student at the University of Toronto’s Rehabilitation Sciences Institute, has received the 2018 Change-Maker Award from Neurological Health Charities Canada.
The award recognizes individuals who have made a meaningful difference in improving the quality of life for Canadians living with brain conditions.
Quilico, who is based in Montreal, developed a sports program for individuals with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury. Quilico’s interest in the area stems from his own experience with the condition after he was thrown from a motorcycle. He spent two weeks in a coma and three months in hospital, followed by two years of rehabilitation.
Quilico credits his return to sports and recreation for his eventual recovery.
