University of Toronto employees in the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 bargaining unit have voted to ratify the renewal collective agreement with the university.

This CUPE unit represents approximately 7,000 employees working as teaching assistants, teaching laboratory assistants, markers, graders and instructors.

Details of the agreement were presented by the union to the membership at an ascension meeting on Feb. 12, and the ratification vote was held from Feb. 12-16 on all three campuses.

“I’m very pleased that the employees in CUPE 3902 Unit 1 have ratified this agreement,” said Kelly Hannah-Moffat, U of T’s vice-president of human resources and equity. “My thanks to the university and union bargaining teams for their commitment and dedication to the collective bargaining process.”

The university has 23 collective agreements with 11 different unions; ten agreements are up for renewal in 2018.
