Alumnus Terence Yuen honoured by Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy
In recognition of his exceptional leadership and initiative, University of Toronto alumnus Terence Yuen has received the Industrial Pharmacy Residency Award from the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy.
Yuen was honoured for a project he worked on as part of an industrial residency at Purdue Pharma Canada that he undertook after graduating in 2018. To help health-care professionals manage patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), he gathered data from more than 200 Ontario pharmacists about their knowledge of ADHD medication and side effects.
“If you want to go beyond your basic job responsibilities, you have to be proactive and reach out to people and ask about things that you want to learn or do,” Yuen said. “And people are generally receptive if you take initiative and ask.”
Yuen says he is humbled by the award and hopes it will bring attention the value pharmacists can bring to industry.
“The roles for pharmacists in industry are endless and the skills and assets that we have are helpful regardless of the roles that you are in.”
