Danny Velev and Gary Bhanot receive 2021 Advancement Rising Leader Award

For their significant accomplishments, great leadership potential and positive influence in the workplace, two members of the Division of University Advancement (DUA) have received the Advancement Rising Leader Award 2021.
Gary Bhanot, a senior web developer in the central advancement office is recognized for the mentorship he has provided to other developers, his efforts to enhance the quality of the digital team’s services and for fostering collaboration within his own team and throughout DUA.
“Gary has completely shifted the quality of service from the digital team by gaining the trust of the team, developing smoother processes, expanding internal knowledge and increasing ability to track digital metrics,” the citation for his award notes. “The developers look to Gary for mentorship, and he has helped them grow their skillsets.”
Danny Velev serves as a business intelligence solutions architect at the Information Management unit, where he played an influential role on a series of projects and critical operational initiatives.
“When reflecting on what it truly means to be a rising leader within Advancement, Danny is the one individual that immediately comes to mind,” Velev's award citation says. “He unequivocally encapsulates all the core competencies and characteristics of great leadership potential.”
