Richard Powers named to Rugby Canada Hall of Fame

Richard Powers, an associate professor, teaching stream in the Rotman School of Management, has been named to the Rugby Canada Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2024.

The Rugby Canada Hall of Fame honours individuals and teams who have made exceptional contributions to Rugby Canada on or off the field.

Powers is recognized for his contributions to rugby and sports governance in Canada. As vice-chair of Rugby Canada for seven years, he contributed to the organization’s strategic direction while serving as a committee member focusing on governance and marketing.

Beyond rugby, Powers has made significant contributions to Commonwealth Games governance, serving as treasurer and director of Commonwealth Games Canada between 2006 and 2014 before serving as president of Commonwealth Sport Canada.

At U of T, Powers is well-known for his teaching on corporate governance, business law and corporate strategy.
