Sarah Kaplan recognized by Academy of Management

Sarah Kaplan, professor of strategic management, Distinguished Professor of Gender and the Economy and founding director of the Institute for Gender and the Economy (GATE) at the Rotman School of Management, has received the 2024 Distinguished Scholar-Practitioner Award from the Academy of Management.

The award recognizes significant, long-term contributions in areas including successful application of theory or research in practice and authoring of scholarly works that have substantively affected the practice of management.

The awards committee noted Kaplan has showcased exceptional contributions "not just in one but across all areas of the award." It highlighted the impact of GATE on academic and practitioner audiences, as well as Kaplan's research record, use of gender-based insights to develop accessible training programs, contributions to public policy and corporate governance, and impactful media presence.
