U of T Mississauga recognized with Sustainability Award

The University of Toronto Mississauga Sustainability Office was recognized with a Sustainability Award at the Pharmaceutical Sciences Group’s industry gala and awards ceremony.

U of T Mississauga has been recognized for its sustainable approach with the construction of the New Science Building – a milestone in green infrastructure that fosters collaboration and drives the future of scientific innovation. The Sustainability Award is given out annually to those who have made outstanding contributions to environmental progress in the Canadian pharmaceutical industry since 2022.

“The New Science Building, which is on track to achieve LEED Gold Certification, incorporates advanced energy-efficient systems, including geothermal system, renewable energy sources, and high-performance materials, demonstrating not only U of T Mississauga’s innovation in energy management and sustainable design, but also our commitment to reducing our overall carbon footprint and achieving a climate-positive campus,” said Ahmed Azhari, managing director of operations, sustainability and asset management at the U of T Mississauga.
