Alumna Melissa Kennedy honoured by civic group
University of Toronto Faculty of Law alumna Melissa Kennedy has received the leading global honour for general counsel and law departments from the Directors Roundtable.
Kennedy, who holds the title of executive vice-president, chief legal officer and public affairs at Sun Life, has held leadership roles at the Ontario Securities Commission, CIBC and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. She received the honour along with her legal department colleagues at Sun Life.
Kennedy will give an address on key issues facing the general counsel of an international financial services corporation at a free event on March 6. She will be joined by a panel comprising the former Premier of Quebec The Hon. Jean Charest, partner, McCarthy Tétrault LLP; Matthew Cockburn, member of executive committee & partner, Torys LLP; and Walied Soliman, chair, Norton Rose Fulbright, Global & Canada LLP.
The Directors Roundtable is a civic group that organizes worldwide programming for corporate directors and their advisors including general counsel.
